AAS Members sought for Independent Scientific Peer Review Panel

The American Association (AAS) is looking for four people to join the Independent Scientific Peer Review Panel (ISPRP) which is an entity established under subcontract to the Military Suicide Research Consortium (MSRC). AAS manages the ISPRP which is designed to review and provide constructive feedback on grant proposals submitted to the MSRC. For every proposal submitted, three reviews will be conducted; members might be asked to review anywhere from one to six proposals per year each of which takes between 2 to 8 hours to complete. Reviewers are paid for their time.

In the cover letter, please specify how you have met these following criteria, denoting page numbers in your CV where relevant.

Interested individuals must:

1. Have a demonstrated record of publishing peer reviewed scientific research
   
2. Have demonstrated expertise in research methodology, subject matter and ethics
   
3. Have no conflicts of interest (are not currently funded by the Military Suicide Research Consortium)
   
4. Evidence of successful passage of course on the protection of human subjects (e.g., CITI - http://www6.miami.edu/citireg/ )
   
5. Be a member in good standing of the American Association of Suicidology
   
6. Be able to complete a proposal review within 28 business days of receipt and submit required documents to AAS on time
   

Those selected at participate on the ISPRP will be sent an MOU to include payment details. Once chosen to conduct a review, members will be emailed the grant proposal (usually fewer than 20 pages), a scoring sheet, a non-conflict of interest agreement, and an invoice template. If no conflict of interest exists, the member proceed with the review. Members will have 28 business days to complete the review and submit the scoring sheet, invoice and signed non-conflict of interest agreement.
