On Sunday, April 26, the 24th annual Blossoms of Hope Brunch, benefiting the Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide (LOSS) Program, took place at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace. The 2015 Charles T. Rubey Award was presented to Dr. Thomas Joiner.
Dr. Joiner has authored or edited seventeen books, including Why People Die By Suicide and Myths About Suicide, Lonely at the Top and most recently The Perversion of Virtue: Understanding Murder-Suicide. He is a consultant to NASA’s Human Research Program, and is the Director, with Pete Gutierrez, Ph.D., of the DoD-funded Military Suicide Research Consortium, a $30 million project.
